Central Salt and Marine Chemicals Research Institute is situated at Bhavangar in Gujarat, India. The institute had started to develop RO plant with membrane technology before 7 years.
[ A reverse osmosis plant is a manufacturing plant where the process of reverse osmosis takes place. An average modern reverse osmosis plant needs six kilowatt-hours of electricity to desalinate one cubic meter of water. The process also results in an amount of salty briny waste. The challenge for these plants is to find ways to reduce energy consumption, use sustainable energy sources, improve the process of desalination and to innovate in the area of waste management to deal with the waste. ]
Norwegian Church is an international NGO Trust. The chief of the Trust contacted the institute 6 RO Plants at distant villages of Afghanistan. The Institute agreed. Keeping geo-climatic conditions of Afghanistan, the institute prepared 6 plants at Bhavnagar of which one was solar operated others were electricity operated. 6 trainees from Afghanistanis were trained at the Institute. Then the parts of the plants were packed and shipped to Kabul.
Now the plants should be fitted and made operative. Two engineers from the Institute must be sent to Afghanistan. Ashok Makawana and Bahadurbhai Rathod were selected by the Institute. [ The name "BAHADUR" means "brave", just to know.] They were ready to go.
Dr. Hamid of the Trust welcomed the engineers. He told them not to leave guest house. On Saturday, they had to go to 6 villages 800 Kms away from Kabul. Wherever they went, they had to be back to guest house before the evening. Wherever they had gone, they were respected by the local people.
The trust has given order for more 5 plants to the Institute.
Where terrorists attack was very common, 2 Indians took the risk. And now the result is, Afghanis will drink sweet water.
